Mangaluru: Robbery at knifepoint – Elderly man loses gold ornaments, cash

Mangaluru, Mar 24: Thieves who entered a house in Halengady Koppala near here flashed a knife at the house owner and robbed ornaments and cash from him.

The incident happened on the night of Monday March 22.

Padmanabha Sanil (80) lives alone in his house. At 10.35 pm on Monday, Sanil had been to the bathroom to take a bath by just closing the front door without locking it at 10.15 pm. When he came out of the bathroom at 10.30 pm, unknown people approached him. One among them held the sharp edge of a knife to his neck and demanded to know where exactly the gold was kept. He also ordered Sanil not to raise an alarm. Another one entered the room, opened the door of the almirah with the key lying nearby, took out three golden rings and Rs 3,500 in cash apart from mobile phone, bank passbook, bank cheque book etc .

The value of the gold ornaments robbed have been estimated to be Rs 1.4 lac. A complaint has been filed in Mulky police station
