Kundapur, Mar 23: "The issue has been brought to the notice of the superintendent of police. He has assured me of taking proper action. It is not fair that the police department is bowing down to political pressure. I have never pressurized the police when I was MLA for four tenures. But, now there is political interference in every case, which cannot be tolerated. If this continues in the future, we will hold a protest in front of the police station," said former MLA of Byndoor K Gopal Poojary.

He was addressing a gathering in front of Kandlur police station after police officials of Kundapur rural police station detained a youth who was out on bail in connection to a case of a scuffle.

On March 17, a youth identified as Nagaraj was booked in a case, but he had obtained bail through his advocate. However, the police have detained him. Following this, several people from Kundapur and Byndoor assembly constituency gathered in front of the police station irrespective of the political party seeking justice for the boy.
