Probe into Workers' Death in Jindal Plant Begins

Raipur, Jul 15 (IANS): Chhattisgarh police Thursday began probe into the death of two workers at a Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) plant, police said.

Two workers were killed and one injured critically Wednesday at the plant, owned by Congress MP Naveen Jindal, Raigarh district, some 220 km from Raipur.

"We have sent an additional superintendent of police to the plant to investigate the matter in detail. Then police will initiate action against the plant management for any lapses," Raigarh district superintendent of police Rahul Sharma told IANS over phone.

Sanjeev Chauhan, senior general manager, JSPL, said the workers died due to breathing problems while cleaning an air water tank.

He said the deaths were not caused due to any gas leakage. But he was also not sure about the exact reason that caused the breathing problems.

"We are gathering details about what actually happened," Chauhan said.
