Bosch Unveils Power Tools for Lawn and Garden Upkeep

Bangalore, Jul 15 (IANS): Global automotive and industrial products leader Bosh Wednesday unveiled a range of corded and cordless lawn and garden tools, powered by lithium ion technology.

"We are offering a complete range of tools to make gardening easy and enjoyable. The lightweight cordless tools with lithium-ion batteries provide unrestricted movement without the risk of using conventional cable," Bosh Lawn & Garden Ltd managing director Frank Toma told reporters here.

The cordless lawnmower mows the garden with faster run time and its grass combs cut right to the edges. Similarly, its cordless shrub and edging shear helps in cutting bushes, while its grass trimmer is an ergonomic tool for convenient edging and trimming of grass borders.

"This is the first time in India that we are launching the cordless range of garden tools for effortless gardening. The tools are designed to protect the environment with lithium ion batteries, which prevent noise and pollution emissions," Bosch Power Tools director Vijay Pandey said at a preview of the products that were unveiled by Kannada actress Ramya.

Though the market for lawn and garden tools remains niche in India, the 38-billion euro German firm is hopeful its green tools will find loyal customers, given the features and value for money.

"As a world leader in power tools segment and pioneer in the cordless version, we plan to introduce new products in India in phases over the next 12-18 months," Toma said.

Priced between Rs.35,000 and Rs.50,000, the lawn and garden tools will be sold at select stores and 600 Bosch dealers and channel partners across 150 cities.
