Mangaluru: Mount Carmel Central School pays loving tribute to women

Mangaluru, Mar 9: Mount Carmel Central School, Maryhill, here, celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8 in the school auditorium, dedicating the day to all the strong women in the world, especially the women members of the MCCS family.

Priya R Balurkar, the assistant commandant of the Indian Coast Guard graced the event with her presence as the chief guest.

Marking the undying tradition of our country, the day began with a prayer service followed by a welcome dance. A speech was then delivered by Miss Neha Ann Jose of Grade IX, welcoming the gathering and encouraging all the women to keep excelling consistently. Celebrating woman in every form, students Srujan and Asfan of Grade IX presented the significance of the day to the audience. A scintillating dance drama was performed by the students on the theme 'Naari kisi se kam nahi', followed by a group song tuning to the melodies of women as a ray of hope and light. 

Priya Balurkar in her speech recognized the role and importance of women in life’s various domains. Acknowledging different career options now available for women to excel in, she inspired the audience to show strength and perseverance in one’s life.

The winners of the National level Wiz Spell Bee contest were honoured with medals and trophies.

On this special occasion, the MCCS management expressed gratitude to all the teaching and non-teaching female staff. Appreciating their unstinted effort towards educating young minds, specially during the pandemic year adapting to new technology, the teachers were felicitated with a flower pot and a gift hamper. Expressing gratitude generously, the vote of thanks was proposed by Nicole of Grade XI. The event was compered by Prapti and Rayner, both from Grade VII.
