Kundapur, Mar 3: It has transpired that during the last 18 months, the highway authority has complied with only two out of ten instructions issued by the MP B Y Raghavendra.

Raghavendra had chaired a meeting at Byndoor on June 25, 2019, to discuss highway works. The local representatives and general public had prepared a list of ten such works which need to be undertaken on the national highway and sent the same to the highway project director. Out of them, the suggestion about building of service road by the side of highway at two places near Neergadde next to Shiroor town, and high mast lights from Neergadde to Shiroor town are the only two works that have been implemented.

The proposal to build service road from 'Trasi Junction to beach, underpass or flyover at Trasi Junction where several roads meet to avoid accidents, well equipped bus stands on both sides of the highway near Shiroor town and Shiroor market, service road between Arate and Mullikatte, transforming the current unscientific service road from Byndoor underpass to new bus stand, underground drainage on both sides of highway at Uppunda, service road on both sides of the under pass at Uppunda, and bus bay near the underpass for the buses to stop, have failed to get the attention of the authorities.

Today, Raghavendra will be chairing a meeting of national highway officials, and local bodies’ officials at Kollur to discuss the pending highway issues. Byndoor MLA B M Sukumar Shetty will also be present. The personal assistant of the MP got in touch with various people's representatives and leaders on Tuesday to collect details of works pending to be executed within their jurisdictions.
