Mangaluru, Mar 2: The city is set to get new faces in the form of the mayor and deputy mayor through election today as the term of one year set for the current incumbents has been completed.
The election is set to take place at 1 pm today. The event has given rise to curiosity in the political field.
The post of the mayor has been earmarked for the 'general' category while that of the deputy for 'lady candidate from general' category. But for last minute changes, senior BJP leader Premananda Shetty, is almost sure to become the city mayor for a term of one year. For the post of the deputy, there are over ten aspirants. The party grappled with the selection of this candidate till late night on Monday without success.
