Kundapur: Foundation laid for reconstruction of jetty, road in Gangolli

Kundapur, Feb 26: MLA B M Sukumar Shetty laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the jetty at a cost of Rs 12 crore and road work at the cost of Rs 1 crore here on Friday, February 26.

Speaking during the occasion MLA Sukumar Shetty said, "The condition of the jetty was in dilapidated condition due to shoddy work which took place five years ago. The chief minister has released Rs 12 crore for the development after understanding the problem of fisherfolk."

 

"Though the entire country is in financial crisis, CM Yediyurappa and MP Raghavendra have released a lump sum amount considering the plight of fishermen. Priority is given to maintain the quality of the work. The work will be completed within a year. The government released a total grant of Rs 35 crore, including Rs 12 crore for the construction of road from Gangolli to Shiroor and Rs 2.80 crore for Kodiyeri port, " he said.

The government has released Rs 1,600 crore for Byndoor Assembly Constituency. Rs 550 crore will be spent to provide drink water to all houses in the constituency. It is been brought to the notice of the union government that the fishermen will get a good market and Gangolli will be developed by the construction Kundapur-Gangolli bridge.

Zilla panchayat member, Shobha Putran, taluk panchayat member, Surendra Karvi, Gangolli gram panchayat president, Shrinivas Karvi, vice president, Prem Poojary, Fishermen Association president, Sadashiva Gangolli, Raw Fishermen Association president, Janardana Karvi and others were present.
