Cops seize liquor worth Rs 9 lac from fish truck at Goa-Karnataka border

Panaji, Feb 17: Cops at Majali checkpost seized illegal liquor worth Rs 9 lac that was being transported in an insulated fish truck. The truck was reportedly heading towards Andhra from Goa on Tuesday morning February 16. Interestingly, the truck went scot-free at the Pollem check-post in Canacona which is 100m away from the Majali checkpost.

Sub-inspector R N Naik along with his staff, stopped the vehicle sensing something amiss. A search was conducted and liquor was found among fish crates. About 45 crates of beer, whiskey of different brands and some Indian-made foreign liquor were seized.

The truck was attached with illegal consignment and the driver has been booked and detained for further investigation.
