US not to Chase Terrorists into Pakistan: Holbrooke

Islamabad, June 20 (IANS) The US will not violate Pakistan's sovereignty by chasing terrorists in Afghanistan across the border into this country, US special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke said Sunday.

"The US will not cross Pakistan's border," Holbrooke said, in an interview with a private TV channel, Online news agency reported.

Holbrooke also asserted that peace is not possible in Afghanistan without the help of Pakistan.

He also expressed willingness for talks with the Taliban, except Mullah Omar and Jalaluddin Haqqani.

The US special envoy said that Pakistan at the moment lacks sufficient resources for launching any kind of offensive in North Waziristan and that Pakistan itself will decide when to do so, adding the US looks at Pakistan's "dearth of resources with sympathy".
