Musharraf Plans to Return to Pakistan

Washington, May 21 (IANS) Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf has said he is planning to return to Pakistan and join politics.

"I certainly am planning to go back to Pakistan and also join politics. The question already of whether I am running for president or prime minister will be seen later," Xinhua quoted Musharraf as telling CNN in an interview Thursday.

Musharraf took over the Pakistani government in a bloodless coup in 1999 after dismissing the elected government of then prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

He ended his decade-long rule and resigned as president in August 2008.
