NEW DELHI, APR 30: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit visited the Kaliga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) and warmly lauded the work of the Institute’s Founder Dr A Samata for creating this unique institute for deprived tribal children.
"This is a symbol of progressive India,” she said after visiting the classrooms, vocational training centres, computer labs and other facilities created for tribal students. She also interacted with the students of the institute.
KISS is the largest tribal institute in Asia providing education (from KG to PG), vocational training, residence, food, health care and all other basic necessities of life to 10,000 tribal children free of cost.
Dr Samanta explained the educational facilities and employment opportunities for the students of the institute. He also outlined the students' achievements in the fields of academics and sports.
Sheila Dixit expressed her happiness to meet a student, who has been selected for Commonwealth Game-2010, to be held at Delhi. She also invited the students of KISS to see the Commonwealth Game and will be provide all accommodation for them.
The Chief Minister was touched by the social role of KISS and promised to visit again with her grandchildren later in the year and spend more time with the tribal children.
Dr Samanta the chief minister’s visit was a big motivation for the tribal students and staff of KISS.
