Panaji: Christians Across State Observe Good Friday

NHT

Panaji, Apr 3: Christians across the state thronged the churches in large numbers to offer special prayers even as they observed fast to commemorate Good Friday, the day on which Jesus Christ was crucified.

The Catholics in Goa held processions carrying the symbolic body of Jesus Christ, which was lowered from the cross where it was in the state of crucifixion, together with the statue of Mary. Jesus was crucified about 2000 years ago.

Good Friday is also observed as the most important day of the season of Lent, when the faithful lead a frugal life shunning all luxury and physical comforts to gain spiritual strength.
