Rahul Mahajan Marries Dimpy Ganguly on Reality TV

Mumbai, Mar 6 (PTI) : Rahul Mahajan's hunt for a perfect bride on TV is over as the reality show star picked up Bengali girl Dimpy Ganguly to tie the knot in true Bollywood style.

Mahajan, who has had a troubled past with drug abuse charges and an acrimonious marriage and divorce from childhood friend Shweta Singh, hopes that it is a "happily ever after" for him.

Mahajan chose 21-year-old Dimpy, a model and dancer, over Nikunj Malik, 25, and Harpreet Chhabra, 20, on reality TV show Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega broadcast by NDTV Imagine.

Rahul decided to go ahead with his wedding despite the recent death of his uncle Praveen Mahajan, who was convicted for killing his politician father Pramod Mahajan in 2006.

The Bengali-style wedding was held in a luxurious Mumbai suburban hotel and the couple wore outfits designed by famous fashion designers Ashley Rebello, Neeta Lulla and Vikram Phadnis.

The 34-year-old, Rahul, who's facing drug abuse charges, had requested a Delhi court for releasing his passport so that his wife and he could spend their honeymoon in Maldives.

"Its a great feeling. I am both excited and nervous. I really believe marriages are made in heaven and this time I'll give whatever I have to make my wife happy. It is going to be happily ever after," Rahul had said.

Dimpy, who was a favourite due to her "crackling chemistry" with Rahul, said she was always confident of being 'Mrs Mahajan' as she knows how to handle the media better than the other contestants.

"We both share a better chemistry and Rahul knows that I am the most genuine out here. Moreover, since I am already a known face in Kolkata I believe I can manage media attention much better after becoming his wife," Dimpy said.

The 15 prospective brides were shortlisted from across the length and breadth of the country through an extensive audition process out of which Nikunj, Dimpy and Harpreet were the top three finalists.

Rahul, who confessed about his "hardships" amid the media glare after his father's death, his involvement in drug case and his divorce on the show, thinks that this time marriage will bring love and stability which he always wanted.

"All the bad times are a thing of the past and I am not going to let my past affect my present. I am ready to settle down in life and finally be happy. I have gone through a lot and now it is my time," he said.

The show, however, has had its share of controversies.

Businesswoman Maureen Wadia has slapped a show cause notice on Dimpy for breaking an exclusive contract with Gladrags and taking part in the reality show.

After the wedding, Rahul is ready to explore showbiz.

"Politics is in my blood but entertainment is my livelihood. You don't get paid that much as an MP. Showbiz is a huge business and I am looking forward to exploring it. Be it TV or films. Moreover it has a mass appeal and gives me an opportunity to get connected with people," said Rahul, who has appeared in reality TV shows like Bigg Boss 2 and Chotte Miyan.

What else can you expect from the person whose role model is his father. In fact, "Yeh toh baap ka bhi baap nikla". Channels have made marriage as a business to increase their TRP. Disgusting.

Disgusting! The channels are conducting such reality shows which are against the Indian culture. They have made Marriage a business. Rahul Mahajan has always lived on his father's black money. He has no respect for women. I pity the poor girl who got married to him. All the best Dimpy. I think the girl also very keen on getting some publicity. Only such girls can be a part of these reality shows.

Its unfortunate for dimpy at his age of 21 getting married to a guy of 34. after some years rahul will be a old man and dimpy will start looking for young guys of her age. We are in India and not in Europe or USA where every second day marriage broken. Our indian culture respects girls/lady's
gals pls think over before stepping into any more reality shows.  We have plenty of young and good looking boys with good family background in India.try to find one of those if u really wish to get marry.

It could have been a fairy tale wedding for Rahul Mahajan and Nikunj Malik, allegedly his girlfriend of one year. But considering Rahul's shifting gaze as far as women are concerned, she lost interest in Rahul.
According to sources close to Rahul he started dating Nikunj after his romance with Monica Bedi fizzled out. Nikunj came on Rahul Dulhania Le Jaayega just for him but she soon saw the other side (read the Casanova image) of Rahul. He soon started flirting with other girls especially Dimpy Ganguly. The last nail in the coffin was when both Rahul and Dimpy got drunk and cozy in Rajasthan.
States a source, "Nikunj and Rahul were all set to marry as the sole purpose for the girl to participate in the show was to marry him as they were dating each other.

But only recently during the last leg of the show she caught Dimpy and Mahajan red-handed. Nikunj even severed all ties with him and stopped talking to him completely. She actually wanted to quit the show. Because how could have Rahul done this to her? After all they were dating for the past one year. But he eventually got close to Dimpy and they used to drink every night and that's a fact everyone associated with Rahul and the show is aware of." Rahul and Dimpy are made for each other, after all they both drink, smoke and have many relationships in their life.
Reality shows are surely stranger than reality!

The people who comment badly about others should think that all the fingers are not correct. And when he/she shows finger to others should think that one finger always showing towards him/her. Always see positive aspects of a person instead of negativity always. I think people are more concerned about others than whats happening in their houses.

So better afraid to god and live their lives in better ways.

I wish good luck to both to make a good beginning and as far future is concerned live everything to god.

We preach for others not our children. BJP stalwart late Pramod Mahajan's son Rahul Mahajan - within 3 months of his own father's death, he married and his first marriage broken. Also involved in drug addiction and so on.

Now TV reality marriage show. Celebrity should be a model and here the young girls and boys whoever watched TV reality marriage, what impression they will carry on their mind and rest of their life. This question also to the parents. Are we proud of this or ashamed. After all we are in a democratic country and it is the choice of individual. After all birds of the same feather flock together.
