Houston, Feb 24 (PTI) : External Affairs Minister S M Krishna has been awarded with this year's Global Alumini Award by his alma mater Southern Methodist University of the United States for his distinguished career and accomplishments.
Krishna, who obtained his Masters of Laws degree from the SMU Dedman School of Law of the University in 1959, is the only Indian and a person outside the US to be selected by the Awards Committee.
Each year, the law school recognises graduates who have distinguished themselves in their professional achievements, philanthropy, public service or by rendering outstanding service to the Dedman School of Law.
The announcement of the award was made at a function held in Dallas of Texas.
Sanjiv Arora, Consul General of India in Houston represented India at the function.
