Margao, Feb 21: Raia Scheduled Tribes Forum in association with department of Art and Culture, Government of Goa organized a grand traditional music and choreography event, Ghumatt Gazota as a part of Intruz (carnival) celebration at Raicho Ambo, Raia, here recently.
The event included Kunbi dance, fugddi, daalo, talgoddi choreography and traditional Ghumatt skill presentation. Ghumatt Gazota was presented by the original choreographers and traditional musicians of the Goan culture from Quepem, Paddi, Balli, Margao and Fatorda.
Vincy Quadros was the president of organising committee Dr Succoro Quadros was the organising secretary. Eduardo Faleiro, commissioner for NRI affairs, government of Goa was the chief guest. Arvind Bhatikar, former chairman of M P T and known personalities of S T movement, Antonio Francisco Fernandes, Peter Gama, Raia ZP member Domnic Gaunkar and advocate John Fernandes among others were the guest of honour.
The participating groups were given incentives in cash. More than 150 people took part in the event attended by over 1,000 people.
The event is being held since last six to seven years. Raia Scheduled Tribes Forum is trying to foster the possibilities of bringing the S T youngsters to the traditional music of Goa so that it can flourish.
