Fraud Doctor Arrested for Cheating over 100 People


New Delhi, Feb 19 (IANS) A medical school dropout who posed as a senior doctor of one of the main state-run hospitals of the capital was Friday arrested for duping over 100 people of millions of rupees for getting them jobs at government hospitals.

The man identified as Ravi, 36, pretended to be senior cardiologist Virender Mishra from the G.B. Pant hospital here.

"He has cheated over 100 young job aspirants. He used to take Rs.50,000-Rs.100,000 from each person and promised them employment at 'his hospital' or the L.N.J.P. (Lok Nayak Jai Prakash hospital," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) H.G.S. Dhaliwal said.

Fake interview letters, merit lists, forged stamps, appointment letters and a computer that he used have been recovered from Ravi's possession along with the hospital's fake identity card, a senior police official said.

Ravi is fluent in English and claimed to have completed three years M.B.B.S. degree from the Maulana Azad Medical College, the official added.
