US National Detained at Delhi Airport

New Delhi, Feb 11 (IANS) A US national was detained at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here after a knife was found in his baggage, officials said Thursday. After finding from his passport that he had travelled to Pakistan and Bangladesh recently, they were checking if he had any terror links.

The US national has been identified as Winston Marshall. He was detained Wednesday as he was preparing to fly on a Qatar Airways flight to Doha.

"During the security check, we found a knife in his baggage. When we questioned him, he could not give any reason so he was detained and handed over to the police," a security official at the airport told IANS.

The police refused to comment on whether Marshall was linked to any terror suspect and on his present whereabouts.
