Desert state Raj registers 130% of pre-monsoon rains this year

Jaipur, Jun 12 (IANS): Rajasthan has, so far, received 130 per cent of pre-monsoon rains, Met Department officials said on Friday.

The state registers 21 mm of pre-monsoon rains on an average but this year, it has touched the mark of 48.2 mm.

In March, 4.1 mm rainfall is reported. However, this year, 20.2 mm rainfall was reported, which was 394 per cent of normal pre-monsoon rains.

In April, 4.3 mm rainfall is registered but this year, 5 mm was registered which was 16 per cent higher than average pre-monsoon rains.

In the months of April and May, more than the average rainfall was registered which kept the temperatures lower than usual.

Officials said that 'Western Disturbances' were continuously active in the state at very short intervals due to which pre-monsoon showers' quantity registered in the state was higher.
