Panaji: Hotel Miramar Organizes Chess Tourney for Primary Children

Panaji, Jan 27: Hotel Miramar in association with Chess Activity Center organized a chess tournament for primary school children at the hotel here on Tuesday January 26.

The tournament was held in two groups.

Group I-   KG, I and II Standard
Group II – III and IV Standard

Under group I, Stanford Pereira from Vidya Vihar School, Cortalim stood first with five points in five rounds. Aniruddha Parsekar from St Joseph’s Institute, Vasco stood second with four points. Shvesh Naik from Deep Vihar School stood third with three points.

Under group II, Noah Pinheiro from Holy Family School, Porvorim bagged the first place with five points. Josiah Rebello from Don Bosco School, Panaji scored 4.5 points and stood second. Akhil Kushe from Mother of Mercy English School, Vasco bagged third place with four points.

The chief guest Gauri Hadkonkar gave away the prizes to all the winners. The arbiter for the tournament was Shravan Barve.
