Nine-year-old Russian Girl Raped in Goa

Panaji, Jan 27: In yet another embarrassing incident, a nine year old girl was raped by unidentified person at Arambol beach, 45 kms away from capital city of Panaji.

The incident occurred last evening when the girl had gone for a bath along with her mother on the beach, mostly frequented by Russian tourists.

Deputy Superintendent Sammy Tavares confirmed that a Russian lady has complained to Pernem police station last night that her nine-year-old daughter was raped by an unidentified person while she was playing in the beach water.

Tavares said that Pernem police have registered a case under section 376 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 8 (II) of Goa Children’s Act.

According to the complaint filed with the police, on Sunday between 5.30 pm. to 6.00 p.m., two persons struck a conversation with her mother on the beach. ``While one person began chatting with the mother, another ventured in the water where the victim was playing and raped her,” police said.

He said that girl complained to her mother and case was registered around 8 p.m., after which the victim was sent for medical examination.

“The medical examination has confirmed the rape,” he said.

Police, who took down the statement of victim’s mother, said that she has claimed that one of the person, who was chatting with her was named `Aman’ and was a domestic tourist.

Goa, which receives around 40,000 Russian tourists, was rocked with the instance of rape on 25-year-old girl by a local political on December 01, last year.

Guys rape case is happening in many parts of India not just in Goa, so why we all are talking about just Goa? even a high profile person is commiting these crime in india like rathord and many more.In India rape is one type of a meal now for some people. I say we as a responsible citizen of India should go after the people who commit these type of crimes, not just the law should go after them. it is we should be blamed for what is happening in India...

We talk about Australia, but see what is happening to tourists in our own country. Yesterday in the UAE a rapist and killer has been given the death sentence for his crime. This should be an eye opener for our crime fighting and justice departments. Unless exemplary punishment is meted out, things will never change. Hang a few and then see how sense will prevail. We simply let go rapists, murderers, kidnappers, acid throwers, corrupt officials, dowry killers and they keep repeating these crimes again and again without fear. Really a sad state of affairs.

Sir. Ahmed Mustafa, I do agree that GCC countries give respect to the women and laws are so strict and so called activities are',t encouraged. But as we discuss the incidents like rape are'nt rare. we live n Oman and we hear ample number rape cases among small girls, kidnaps rape and killings. All the parent take a lot of care of their kids.

THESE RAPES ARE MAINLY DUE TO LACK OF STRINGENT PUNISHMENT FOR CULPRITS. WE MUST REFORM OUR JUDICIARY. ALL CIVILIZED PEOPLE CONDEMN RAPE IN ANY FORM. CONVICTED RAPIST MUST BE AWARDED CAPITAL PUNISHMENT, DEATH BY FIRING SQUAD OR BEHEADING IN PUBLIC (AS PER SHARIAH). IF WE CANT RESPECT OUR OWN WOMEN FOLK, WOMEN GUEST, WHY ARE WE SO BOASTING ABOUT OUR RICH CULTURE AND HERITAGE. WHERE ARE THESE HUMAN RIGHT AND WOMEN ACTIVIST GROUPS NOW? UNLESS AND UNTIL THE VICTIM FORGIVES THE RAPIST, NO ONE EVEN THE JUDGE CANT SHOW LENIENCY AND FORGIVE HIM. THATS IT.

Very shameful act and should be condemned and dealt with severely. However, I would like to state that these isolated cases of rapes and other sexual attacks are bound to take place, unfortunately though, how much you monitor through Police and other law enforcing authorities, mainly because the Indian and foreign cultures, specially when it comes to dressing codes and social interaction, at the beaches etc., simply do not match, and these foreign tourists and holiday makers are vulnerable to such attacks, specially by the uneducated youth, who are working in the Goa beaches in plenty. During my recent holidays in Goa, specially at Calangute and closeby Northern beaches, I have personally witnessed that these foreign tourists, in particular, the Russians, quite often fully drunk and immodestly dressed, are freely mingling with these, the so-called beach hands/boys, and naturally, the later are tempted to do such low acts, sometimes shamefully though, on the young kids. The best course of advice to the foreigners, specially to the Russians, would be that they conduct themselves properly and take care of their little ones all the time!

Sad to read but I am not suprised. I have read before all kind of tourists, some westerners seeking illicit sex from children(these are called paedophiles) from the west who seek young girls and young boys who show cash to these poor souls, take them to the see and do Godforbidden acts with these innocent souls. Many of these acts remain unreported as the children have no idea as to what is happenning to them. Parents of young children ,specially poor ones, must be made aware of these horrendous and sickenning behaviour of these tourists.

Shame on us...Goa is now a city of molesters. Crime against tourists should stop. Everybody should respect others feelings. Don't think she is an Indian or foreigner, she is just 9 yrs old girl. Goa state govt should take strict actions on this and this kind of criminals are not deserved to live.

The reason why this rape is continuing in India is due to lack of policies. If our govt. implements policies like Saudi then I'm sure no one will dare to look at a women/girl. I really appriciate our GCC countries for having such a good system and policy for taking care of women.

I hope the govt. there will appoint adequate security guards 24 hours and life guard service to stop these incidents taking place hurting Indian Hospitality Industry as well as our Name. Goan govt. would realise they cnnot ignore the tourists, for the simple reason they bring in lot of commercial gain to the state.

Tourist's pradise GOA is now becoming rape paradise. The beach culture of Goa is the main reason 4 all the rapes. Where are the women welfare activists now? They will come only when someone try to stop uncultured activities. Thank God, it's just a rape, not a single pub is damaged.
