Commoners come out to serve cops, other corona warriors

New Delhi, Apr 6 (IANS): To mitigate the misery faced by the people due to the 21-day lockdown, announced by the government to contain the coronavirus infection, the common people have come out in large numbers and are extending helping hands to those in need.

Some are especially trying to serve the corona warriors.

For example, Nirmal Kumar Jain, principal of a Delhi school, and Pankaj Kumar Kansal, an accountant at a company, are supplying water, juice and soft drinks to the police personnel, standing on ground to ensure enforcement of the lockdown.

They travel across the national capital to distribute drinks to the law enforcement personnel and other corona warriors.

Speaking to IANS Jain said, "In these tough times, we wanted to do our bit for the society. While a lot of people are feeding the poor and distributing necessary items to the needy, we thought of serving the police personnel."

They are also providing drinks to healthcare personnel, sweepers, municipal corporation employees and other corona warriors.

Ashok Mittal, owner of Royal Plaza Hotel in Delhi, too has turned a social activist and has donated Rs 51,00,000 to the Prime Minister's Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES Fund).

"These are times to stay united to mitigate this crisis. I decided to do my bit by making a donation to the PM-CARES Fund," he said.
