Delhi: 247 cases registered under Epidemic Act for violation of home quarantine


New Delhi, Apr 6 (IANS): A total of 247 cases have been filed by the Delhi Police under the Epidemic Act in different police station areas of the capital for violation of home quarantine. In these 247 cases, police registered 160 cases through technical surveillance.

This information was received by IANS from the data prepared by Delhi Police Headquarters. According to the information, "These cases are also included in which the people were caught violating the home quarantine."

Out of 247 cases, the police lodged 81 FIRs on the spot. While 160 cases were filed with the help of technical surveillance. Cases have been registered under all sections of the IPC and Section 3 of the Epidemic Act.

These 247 also include 6 cases which neighbours and acquaintances reported to the police. The maximum of 47 FIRs were registered in the outer Delhi district. Whereas in South-East, South-West, Dwarka East, South, Central, North-West, Shahdara and East districts the number of such cases stood at 41,35,22,21,13,11 and 8 respectively.
