Father, children found hanging in house in UP

Hamirpur (UP), Mar 17 (IANS): The bodies of a father, his son and daughter were found hanging inside their house on Tuesday at Alipura village in Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to reports, the house of Amar Singh, 32, was unusually quiet on Tuesday morning. When the neighbours peeped in, they were shocked to see his body and that of his son Pranshu, 7, and daughter Pransi, 5, hanging inside the house.

A huge crowd collected outside the house and the police was called in.

The police said that it could be a case of suicide where the father first hanged his son and daughter and then committed suicide.

The local people, however, feel that there could be foul play in the deaths.

Amar Singh's wife had gone to her parents' house in Damoh in Madhya Pradesh and was not present at the time of the incident.

Singh's brother Vijay Singh said that his brother had returned from Damoh with the children on March 14.

The local people said that Amar Singh was an alcoholic and had frequent fights with his wife.

The police claim that the marital dispute could be a cause of the incident.

The bodies have been sent for post mortem and ASP Santosh Kumar Singh said that investigations were underway in the matter. The wife has been informed of the incident and is on her way to Hamirpur.
