Molested British Woman Alleges Humiliation in Court

Ahmedabad, Sep 16 (IANS): A 23-year-old British student has alleged she was being humiliated in a city court that was holding a trial after she was allegedly molested.

The woman has written to Gujarat High Court Chief Justice K.S. Radhakrishnan, complaining that the defence lawyer in the metropolitan magistrate's court had Monday asked her humiliating questions in Gujarati that she could not understand in the absence of a translator.

She also said that during the proceedings, the audience made fun of her and nothing was done to prevent it.

She had filed a police complaint Aug 23, saying a plumber who had come to her home had molested her.

The victim has requested the chief justice to order a judicial inquiry into the matter.

Should the 23 year old British student being humiliated by the defence lawyer in the metropolitan magistrate´s court, appropriate steps should be taken to protect the young woman at court and to punish the defence lawyer for his embarrassing behaviour. Best Kurt
