Modi, Kovind pay tributes to Vajpayee on birth anniversary


New Delhi, Dec 25 (IANS): President Ram Nath Kovind led the nation on Wednesday in paying rich tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The President's official Twitter handle posted pictures of Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi among other dignitaries paying tributes to Vajpayee in New Delhi.

The post on @rashtrapatibhvn said: "On the birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, President Kovind paid homage to the late former Prime Minister at 'Sadaiv Atal'."

Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu wrote on @VPSecretariat: "I join the nation in paying tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji on his birth anniversary today. Vajpayee ji was truly a multifaceted personality."

Modi wrote on @narendramodi: "I pay tribute to Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, who resides in the hearts of every Indian."

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla tweeted: I paid floral tributes to Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji on his birth anniversary, which is observed as Good Governance Day."

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted: "Remembering #BharatRatna Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birthday. A fascinating life of dedication to a cause and perseverance when there was no hope. The power of his language and the energy in his communication were remarkable. His administration was a breath of fresh air."

Modi also paid tribute to freedom fighter Madan Mohan Malviya: "I pay my humble tribute to Madan Mohan Malviya ji who dedicated his entire life to serve Mother India. He played a stellar role not only in the education field but also India's freedom struggle."
