Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 12: Pinarayi Vijayan, state secretary of Kerala's ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), has a hidden agenda in the probe into the murder of Paul M. George, son of a prominent businessman, the opposition Congress alleged Saturday.

State Congress president Ramesh Chennithala told reporters that this murder case of Muthoot business group scion George has been now politicised by Vijayan.

"We fail to understand why Vijayan has held two press conferences on this subject. May be he wants to protect state Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan or even expose him. Never before has been a murder case been so politicised," he said.

George, 32-year-old son of Muthoot Finance Group chairman M.C. George, was killed Aug 21 midnight near Alappuzha while he was travelling with Om Prakash and P. Rajesh, who face several criminal cases.

Vijayan Friday said a section of the media has vested interests in misleading the probe, accused several Congress leaders of having links with criminal gangs and also named Congress politicians V.M. Sudheeran and K. Sudhakaran.

Kannur Lok Sabha member K. Sudhakaran, the bogey man for Vijayan for long, told reporters at Kochi Saturday that Vijayan is now gunning for Balakrishnan's head.

"You all know that Vijayan wanted Finance Minister Thomas Isaac to become the member of of the CPI-M politburo instead of Balakrishnan. But Vijayan's game plan did not work and since then he has marked Balakrishnan and with this murder case he is determined to throw mud on Balakrishnan," said Sudhakaran.

He also said that Balakrishnan's son Bineesh Kodiyeri and Om Prakash, who was with the victims, are buddies for the past decade.

Reacting to Vijayan's allegation, Sudheeran said he wished the government would order an inquiry into it.

"We all have heard that the CPI-M is planning to come out with a rectification document and the need of the hour is that people like Vijayan and Balakrishnan step down. Vijayan now behaves like Hitler," said Sudheeran.

Meanwhile, Youth Congress workers marched to the Alappuzha Medical College demanding a second autopsy of George following reports that there are differences in the autopsy report and the police inquest report.
