Jamia girls lead anti-CAA protest

New Delhi, Dec 20 (IANS): The girl students of the Jamia Millia Islamia and Jamia school in the national capital led a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) on Friday.

They assembled outside the gate number 7 of the university to chant slogans against the CAA and NRC. Surprisingly, some of the protestors were as young as ten to twelve years old.

Though the girls led the protests, it was encircled by a large number of male students and hundreds of local residents of the area.

There were around 50 female students who were leading from the front.

The protest lasted for an hour before fizzling out, leaving the law enforcement agencies to heave a sigh of relief.

Jamia Millia Islamia witnessed a large scale violence and arson last Sunday, which was followed by a police crackdown inside the university campus. The incident has sparked off nation wide outrage.
