Man held in UP with videos of Jamia violence

Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh), Dec 19 (IANS): A man carrying about a dozen purported videos pertaining to violence in Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) in his mobile phone has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal, police said on Thursday.

The police said that these videos can disturb communal harmony of the society.

The mobile phone has been confiscated and a case has been registered under IPC's Section 505 (act with the intent to incite, or which is likely to incite, any class or community of persons to commit any offence against any other class or community) and Section 66 A of the Information Technology Act.

"The mobile has 10-11 videos pertaining to Jamia and these can disturb the communal harmony, if circulated," said a police official.

The official said that they had acted on information and arrested the man from Chandausi on Wednesday night. The accused has no links with Jamia students.
