10 Afghan civilians killed in landmine blast


Kabul, Dec 17 (IANS): Ten civilians, including three children, were killed in a landmine explosion in Afghanistan's Khost province on Tuesday, a police spokesman said.

"The explosion occurred at around 5 a.m. in Ali Shir district when a vehicle ran over an improvised explosive device (IED), causing the casualties," the spokesman told Xinhua news agency.

Two women and three children were among the victims, he said.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
