Heavy firing on after 'suspicious movement', blast on LoC

Srinagar, Dec 16 (IANS): A major gun battle was on across the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Monday after Indian troops challenged a "suspicious movement", leading to firing from the Pakistani side, defence officials said.

According to defence officials, Indian troops observed a suspicious movement along the LoC at Laleali in Sunderbani sector. As they challenged it, it was, initially, retaliated by fire and then a heavy explosion took place, followed by heavy firing from the Pakistani side. Indian troops opened fire in response.

"Presently the operation is on and heavy exchange of fire is taking place from both sides," a defence official said.
