New Delhi, Dec 15: Making a strong statement, international shooter Vartika Singh has written a letter in blood addressed to union home minister Amit Shah. Singh wanted to showcase her willingness to hang the four convicts in the Nirbhaya rape case who are currently lodged in the Tihar jail. The convicts are serving a death sentence for the brutal murder of the paramedical student on the night of December 16, 2012.
"Hanging of the Nirbhaya case convicts should be done by me. This will send a message throughout the country that a woman can also conduct execution," Vartika Singh stated in a letter which she wrote with her blood.

Seeking support for her daring initiative, Vartika Singh further said, "I want the women actors, MPs to support me. I hope this will bring a change in society."
A while back, a gallantry award winner had agreed to fill in the shoes of the executioner in the same case.
A jail in Buxar district of Bihar, known for its expertise in manufacturing execution ropes was directed to keep 10 pieces ready by the end of this week, triggering speculations that these might be meant for the 2012 Nirbhaya case convicts.
"We received instructions from the prison directorate to keep 10 ropes ready by December 14. We do not know where these will be used. But the Buxar jail has a long tradition of manufacturing execution ropes," Buxar jail superintendent Vijay Kumar Arora said.
The Buxar jail has a history of supplying execution ropes, they have done so for rape and murder convict Dhananjoy Chatterjee, the 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru and the 1993 Bombay blasts convict Yakub Memon. Reportedly, Ajmal Kasab, one of the prime convicts of the 2008 Mumbai attacks, was also hanged by a rope supplied by the Buxar jail.
As per sources, the hangman for the Nirbhaya case convicts will come from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. The hangman will be sent from a Meerut jail to Tihar Jail. Uttar Pradesh presently has two hangmen and if reports are to be believed Meerut jail hangman Pawan Kumar will be sent to Tihar for the execution.
On December 11, Tihar Jail sent a letter to DG Jail of Uttar Pradesh asking for a hangman. The letter sent by Tihar did not mention who was/were to be hanged. The letter mentioned that some prisoners have no legal remedies in their bags anymore to defend them and they need to be hanged.
