New Delhi, Dec 12 (IANS): Twitterati on Thursday posted congratulatory messages on Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar's 80th birthday, with #SharadPawar trending with 6,449 tweets.

Twitter users wished him a long and healthy life.

One fan posted a throwback picture of the senior politician and wrote: "Best Prime Minister that India never had."

Another user posted a picture of the NCP putting up over 80 big billboards across Mumbai to celebrate his birthday and wrote that the city NCP unit wanted to turn it into a mega event.

One Twitter user was critical of the former Defence Minister for allegedly misleading the public during the 1993 bombings in Mumbai.

She wrote: "Irony is these politicians have no qualms propagating the Hindu terror theory."

One fan wrote: "Happy birthday, sir. Hope you will take care of Maharashtra and this time things like irrigation will be better so that the farmers in Yawatmal will not commit suicide".
