MP power pangs: As video goes viral, Cong says BJP lying

Bhopal, Dec 11 (IANS): The Madhya Pradesh Congress has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of spreading lies in the state over electricity bills of consumers.

The BJP has been questioning the state government's promise to cut down the electricity bill of the consumers to half. The party staged a protest led by former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Sagar district over problems related to electricity bills and various other issues. An elderly woman in Sagar was seen sitting with an electricity bill around her neck.

Syed Jafar, Vice President of the Congress' media department, released a video of the woman on social media accusing the BJP of spreading lies.

Taking to twitter, Jafar said, "The BJP leaders in the presence of former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan called an elderly woman in Sagar promising her to get her disability certificate and made her sit on the stage with an electricity bill around her neck whereas her electricity bill was only of Rs 96."

The video shared by the Congress leader on Twitter shows the woman saying that she was called to the rally on promise of getting her the disability certificate, but she was then asked to sit on the stage with an electricity bill around her neck in the presence of BJP leaders.
