Girls staying far from home work hard, boys only drink beer: MP minister

Shivpuri, Dec 11: Addressing an event on Tuesday, Madhya Pradesh's Child and Women Development minister Imarti Devi made a strong distinction between boys and girls. The minister said that girls who transfer to a new city work hard whereas the boys start drinking beer.

"We mothers think that our daughters should progress in their studies or works. The girl who is away to another city works or studies hard. However, in the case of our sons, when the two friends meet, they start drinking beer many times."

Devi stressed on the importance of education for women irrespective of age. Citing an example of herself, she said, "Look at me, I was not well-read as a child but I studied at a later age in life. Similarly, any other woman can also learn at any stage of her life."
