2 army jawans missing in Kashmir avalanche

Srinagar , Dec 4 (IANS): Three army jawans were rescued and two were missing after an avalanche hit an army patrol in Kashmir's Tangdhar sector on Tuesday night, sources said.

Rescue teams have been rushed to the spot and the army has started an operation to locate the missing jawans.

A second avalanche that hit an army position at Gurez in north Kashmir caused no damage. All the army jawans, who were caught in that avalanche, have been accounted for, sources said.

This year early snowfall in Kashmir has caused a major dip in the temperature and triggered avalanches in the upper reaches of the valley.
