LTC policy released for J&K govt servants

New Delhi, Dec 3 (IANS): Employees of the newly announced Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir can now avail of leave travel concession (LTC) facility. In what is seen as a sign of normalcy making its way back to the border region, the local administration has issued guidelines for its employees to avail leave travel concession (LTC).

A notification dated December 3 and issued by the Finance Department of Jammu and Kashmir, under the authority of the Lieutenant Governor, outlines the eligibility conditions and the guidelines. Under LTC framework, government employees and their eligible family members are eligible to claim reimbursement for personal travels at predefined periodic intervals.

The orders come into effect from October 31 of this year and are applicable for gazetted and non-gazetted officials of the Union Territory.

Under the rules of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Leave Travel Concession) Rules, 2019, government servants can avail of the LTC facility for visiting their home town once in two years and any location of their choice in India every four years.

The elaborately constructed guidelines spell out the various conditions and situations that government employees are expected to encounter while applying for the facility.

Earlier this year, the Central government had revoked Article 370 and went on to reshape the state of Jammu and Kashmir into the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh respectively.
