Kerala HC slams state government's 'inefficiency'

Kochi, Dec 2 (IANS): The Kerala High Court on Monday slammed the Pinarayi Vijayan-led state's government way of functioning.

Justice Devan Ramachandran went hammer and tongs at the government in open court while taking up a contempt petition filed by a resident of Irinjalkuda (near Thrissur) who is yet to get the compensation for his land which was acquired by the state government.

Slamming the bureaucracy, Justice Ramachandran observed that the IAS officials sitting in air-conditioned rooms fail to understand the pulse of the common man.

He also pointed out that every day the newspapers are coming out with the way the state finances are being managed, adding that the people get a government that they deserve.

The court also remarked that state ministers are more interested in foreign travel.

Of late, the Congress led opposition has also sharpened its attack of the Vijayan government, especially its extravagance and poor financial management, which has left the state coffers empty.
