NCW member in Hyderabad to help victim's family

Hyderabad, Nov 30 (IANS): National Commission for Women (NCW) on Friday took suo moto note of the horrific gang rape and murder of a woman veterinarian in Hyderabad and sent a member to assist the victim's family.

NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma tweeted that a member with a lawyer has reached Hyderabad.

She said NCW won't leave any stone unturned till the perpetrators get the punishment they deserve.

Sharma also took strong exception to the manner in which Cyberabad police handled the case. "Look at the mindset of Telangana Police. They told the father that she might have eloped with someone."

"I expect serious, sever and quick action against the officials who didn't act on the missing complaint," she tweeted, tagging Telangana Chief Minister's Office and Director General of Police.

She earlier said a horrible and horrific incident happened in a city where many young girls from all over the country are working. "How the hell we will make our daughters independent when they are not secure to move around? It's like wolves out on the prowl on roads."
