Manoj Kumar takes over as new Tripura Chief Secretary


Agartala, Nov 29 (IANS): The Tripura government on Thursday appointed senior IAS officer Manoj Kumar as the new Chief Secretary, an official said.

A 1990 batch Tripura cadre IAS officer, and currently Additional Chief Secretary, Electricity, Finance and Forest Departments, Manoj Kumar would succeed Usurupati Venkateswarlu, who is retiring from service on November 30.

A senior official said that after taking the charge of Chief Secretary on December 1, Manoj Kumar would look after the General Administration (Confidential and Cabinet, Personnel and training), Finance and Home (excluding Jail and Fire Service) Departments.

In a separate administrative reshuffle, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb made some changes the departments currently held by Additional Chief Secretaries S.K. Rakesh and Kumar Alok, Principal Secretaries Shashi Ranjan Kumar and Laihlia Darlong and Special Secretary Shailendra Singh.
