Essex lorry deaths: Another suspect held


London, Nov 26 (IANS): Another man has been arrested on suspicion of the manslaughter of 39 people, who were found dead in a refrigerated lorry in Essex last month.

A 36-year-old man from Purfleet, Essex was arrested in Dalston, east London on Monday in connection with conspiracy to traffic people and to assist unlawful immigration, BBC reported.

39 Vietnamese nationals were found dead in a refrigerated lorry in Grays on October 23.

Eight women and 31 males, including two teenagers, were among those who died.

Earlier, lorry driver Maurice Robinson, a resident of Craigavon, County Armagh, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey to conspiring with others to assist illegal immigration between May 1, 2018 and October 24, 2019.

Another man, Christopher Kennedy, a resident of Darkley, who was charged with human trafficking offences, appeared before Chelmsford Magistrates' court on Monday.
