Newly inducted ministers capable, efficient: Haryana CM


Chandigarh, Nov 15 (IANS): Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday said the newly inducted ministers are capable and efficient and will work as a team.

This being the second consecutive term of the government, work which was in the pipeline would be completed at the earliest, he said.

Interacting with the media here, the Chief Minister said the 10 newly inducted ministers have been allocated portfolios.

He said though all the ministers are experienced they have been asked to take the assistance of their predecessors in case of any difficulty.

In reply to a question, the Chief Minister said caste and area factors have been kept in mind while inducting the ministers, but there are always some limitations.

On being asked about the first cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister said it would be held on Monday.

Khattar gave the key department of Home, along with Urban Local Bodies and Technical Education to Anil Vij, a six-time legislator.

He retained the portfolios of Health, Medical Education and Research, Ayush and Science and Technology.

Former Speaker Kanwar Pal Gujjar was allocated the portfolios of Education, Forests, Tourism, Parliamentary Affairs and Hospitality, while Mool Chand Sharma would hold charge of Transport, Mines and Geology, Skill Development and Industrial Training and Art and Cultural Affairs.

Independent legislator Ranjit Chautala would be the Minister for Power, New and Renewable Energy and Jails, while J.P. Dalal would hold the portfolios of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and Law and Legislative.

Former minister Banwari Lal would be Minister for Cooperation and Welfare of Scheduled Castes.
