Ayodhya verdict victory of every Indian: Joshi

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS): BJP veteran Murli Manohar Joshi, who was one of the prominent faces of the party's Ram temple movement, on Saturday welcomed the Supreme Court judgement in the Ayodhya title dispute and termed it as a victory for every Indian and not only Hindus.

Joshi, an accused in the Babri Masjid demolition case, said the Trust which is to be formed for construction of the temple should be considerate about maintaining unity in the country.

He said the "victory" belongs to every Indian as Lord Rama is "not confined to Hindus only and Ayodhya belongs to everyone.

One of the BJP's most experienced leaders, Joshi, who is currently out of active politics, urged all the communities to accept the verdict with an open mind.

The Supreme Court, in its verdict in the Ayodhya land dispute case, gave the entire disputed 2.77-acre land to the Hindu party and directed the Centre to form a Trust, within three months, which will construct a temple there.

The Sunni Waqf Board will be given 5 acres of land to construct a mosque at an alternate place.
