Security beefed up in Agra ahead of Ayodhya verdict

Agra, Nov 9 (IANS): Ahead of the much awaited apex court verdict on Ayodhya dispute, security was tightened in sensitive areas of the Taj city Agra. District authorities conducted flag marches, increased patrolling and posted pickets in and around the Taj Mahal and other monuments in the city.

Tourists continued to move around freely without any apprehension. But market places looked deserted as schools and colleges are shut. People have chosen to stay back home to watch proceedings on TV.

Agra has been declared a sensitive district by the state government.
