New Delhi, Nov 8 (IANS): The Delhi High Court on Friday said "best officers" should be used to resolve the current stand-off between the Delhi Police and lawyers following their recent clashes in the Tis Hazari court complex, while posting the matter for hearing on February 12 next year.

The High Court's ruling came on a petition filed by an advocate seeking disciplinary action against some police officers.

A court division bench, headed by Chief Justice D.N. Patel and including Justice C. Harishankar, was hearing a petition by a lawyer who sought directions to the Centre and others to initiate a departmental probe against the Delhi Police officers who staged a protest on November 5.

Posting the matter for February 12 next year, the court said: "Use your best officers for settlement. Please wait and watch. The long date is required and we will see."

During the course of the hearing, the petitioner's counsel Vivek Narayan Sharma said he wanted to argue on the legal points.

The plea in the High Court, filed by Rakesh Kumar Lakhra, seeks disciplinary action against several Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and senior personnel, including Madhur Verma, Aslam Khan, Meghna Yadav and Sanyukta Parashar, claiming that provocative statements had been circulated by them on social media.
