Temple beggar found with Rs 15,000 cash, Rs 2 lac bank balance

Puducherry, Nov 7: A temple beggar in Puducherry was found to be having over Rs 15,000 in cash, an Aadhaar card and a bank passbook with Rs 2 lac as balance in her name.

The shocking incident came to light when the temple officials cleared the area around the holy place. However, while doing so, Parvatham (70) the beggar refused to move. Officials then informed the police who frisked her bag and found the money.

On inquiry, Parvatham claimed that she acquired the money through alms from devotees.

The police officials have shifted Parvatham to an elderly home and informed her relatives in Kallakurichi in Tamil Nadu.
