PM's IISF opening speech interrupted by tech glitch

Kolkata, Nov 5 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi's inaugural speech through video conferencing at the fifth India International Science Festival here was interrupted for over two minutes on Tuesday as the video link got snapped.

Realising the link had gone, Modi stopped his speech and was seen asking his aides whether the power link had snapped.

At the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, a host of dignitaries, including Union Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan, West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and a large number of delegates from abroad and various parts of the country, had gathered for the programme.

Once the link was back, Dhankhar, Harsh Vardhan and other dignitaries clapped as Modi resumed his speech, saying "rukawat ke liye khed hai" (sorry for the interruption)".
