Rioters block roads, vandalize shops in Hong Kong


Hong Kong, Nov 5 (IANS) A group of rioters blocked roads with barricades and vandalized shops by smashing their glass in Tsim Sha Tsui, a shopping district in Kowloon, the Hong Kong police said on Tuesday.

The rioters have occupied the vicinity of Nathan Road, the junction of Chatham Road South and Austin Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, according to a police statement released on Tuesday night, Xinhua news agency reported.

Warning the rioters to stop their illegal acts, police said they have conducted a dispersal operation and have deployed specialized crowd management vehicles.

Members of the public are also advised to avoid travelling to the high-risk locations in Tsim Sha Tsui, the statement added.
