B'desh MP hires lookalikes to write her univ exams


Dhaka, Oct 25 (IANS): A woman MP of Bangladesh's ruling Awami League party was expelled from university for allegedly hiring as many as eight lookalikes to write examinations in her place.

Tamanna Nusrat is accused of paying the lookalikes to pretend to be her for at least 13 exams.

Nusrat was enrolled in the Bangladesh Open University (BOU) as a student of Bachelor of Arts.

The incident came to light when correspondents of Nagorik TV, a public broadcaster, entered one of the exam centres and confronted a women posing as Nusrat. A video has gone viral.

A four-member investigation team also probed the matter.

Nusrat, who was elected to the Bangladesh Parliament last year, was expelled from the university.

She holds one of 50 parliamentary seats reserved for women.

The Awami League has said it will take up the matter seriously.
