Mosque entry for women: SC seeks Centre's response

New Delhi, Oct 25 (IANS): The Supreme Court on Friday asked the Centre to file response on the plea seeking to allow entry of Muslim women in all mosques in the country.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justices S.A. Bobde and S.A. Nazeer sought response from the government and listed the matter for November 5.

The court was hearing the plea filed by Yasmeen Zuber Ahmed Peerzade asking the apex court to declare the prohibition on entry of women inside mosques as "illegal and unconstitutional" as it violated the fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution.

The petition has also mentioned that in mosques where women are allowed, there are separate entrances and enclosures for worship for the two genders.

The petition said that there should not be any gender discrimination at all, and that all Muslim women should be allowed to pray in all mosques, cutting across denominations.

Ground reality is common man is suffering from price rise, economic slowdown, unemployment, no business, banks closing, increased taxes etc. Instead of concentrating on relevant things, all SC can think is unnecessarily creating controversy and public unrest by poking nose in silly matters. Let religious matters be how it was from history.

The Supreme court should try to spend the time and its resources on more important matters first. They have lakhs of cases pending for years.

Regarding the entry of women in mosques - clearly it is not prohibited in Islam. The problem is only the lack of space and infrastructure in most mosques in India.

In UAE and other gulf countries, almost every mosque has space for ladies and they regularly pray in the mosques. If the lady who has approached the court can donate sufficient money and land to the mosques, every mosque can make this arrangement in India.

At time of Sabariamala these people supported for getting equal status, now its turn of Mosques.
Good decision. Let there be no discrimination on basis of sex, caste, color , rich, poor all should be allowed to mosque or temple or church.

SC has no right to interfere in the internal matter of any religion.
Why women are not allowed in Sabarimala?
Why SC ST people are never allowed in many temples.
Why during brahmin functions, even today, there is pankti bheda?
just take the case of namma kudla, different temples are meant for different castes of majority religion. Others do not go near them.

All these questions, though not important to me, have to be answered before asking women of Islam to allow in Mosque. Of course, it is done in gulf countries with separate hall

But in India, in all communities there are issues of oonch and neech, takur, pandit, baniya, chamar, moosahari etc etc so better not to dig into these..let it go as it is as we are country of manuvadis
